My life revolves around words. My passion is to write articles, social media posts and web copy that make it impossible to stop reading.

I’m currently a senior science writer at the Space Telescope Science Institute, which has led the science operations for NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope since its launch in 1990. After joining the institute in 2017, I’ve supported an array of projects, including writing more than a dozen scripts for videos and digital interactives for ViewSpace, a free, online informal education resource highlighting the latest developments in astronomy and Earth science.

I also lead the production of the institute’s annual report, which goes beyond providing an excellent overview of the staff’s accomplishments by capturing readers’ imaginations through storytelling. My work allows me to contribute to an array of public outreach projects, including large-scale exhibits that explain an astronomical image like the Andromeda Galaxy.

Through March 2017, I served as the managing editor of the External Relations and Public Policy group at Laureate International Universities. I was responsible for writing and editing in addition to leading the development of content for a broad range of communications, including magazines, newsletters, blogs and internal communications.

My projects included Accolades magazine, a biannual publication for the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences that highlights the careers and expertise of its physical and occupational therapy graduates, students and faculty. Not only did I build the story ideas and locate sources, I also oversaw the freelance writers and overall production process. I also actively supported our institutions’ blogs, which included Spotlight on Walden and Inside Kendall, and served as the coordinating editor for the alumni publication of the Santa Fe University of Art and Design.

Until January 2014, I was as the editor of publications for Walden University. I primarily worked on the biannual alumni publication Walden magazine. For three years, I also edited the monthly e-newsletter Ponder, which was sent to Walden students, faculty and staff members. Through all of these outlets, I helped tell powerful stories about our community members, both in profiles and in articles that shared a particular area of expertise.

Before joining Laureate, I spent five years as the associate editor of AmericanStyle and NICHE magazines, which supported and promoted the American craft community. I built relationships with collectors, craftspeople and retailers who bought and sold handmade products. I am proud to say that a large part of my work at these magazines served to promote small businesses.

I specialize in a range of editorial projects, from full-length features and blog posts to press releases and website copy. And I am often able to handle short deadlines.
